We are testing a very new, powerful and fast OTT media streamer, the Golden Interstar G-200 Pro, which is based on Android 9.0, has a variety of connections and has pre-installed content monitoring applications. More details, immediately below!
The new TV box G-200 Pro of Golden Interstar, has SoC Amlogic 905X3 with Quad Core ARM Cortex A55 processor, is based on Android 9.0 with a very easy and intuitive interface, while it is upgraded directly online. The G-200 Pro has 2GB of DDR3 memory and 16GB of eMMC storage, which ensures seamless operation speed, but also provides MicroSD expansion.
In terms of networking, we have built-in Dual band WiFi, but also Ethernet, while Bluetooth offers additional convenience, both for remote controls and for connection, for example, keyboard or mouse.
Special mention should be made of the online content applications which we will list below.
External description - Connections
The Golden Interstar G-200 Pro, has a lightweight boat with an elegant curved shape, which has an LED indicator on the front, while the connections on the back include: HDMI, Ethernet, IR socket, optical digital audio output S / PDIF and the socket for the supplied external power supply. On the side we find 1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0 and MicroSD slot for storage space expansion.
When launching the G-200 Pro - as usual - you can select a number of key parameters, including entering the WiFi key, if you use it. The Launcher that will appear provides direct access to some applications that are labeled as "Favorite Apps" and specifically YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Store, MX Player and File Browser, while at the top of the screen we find the PHOENIX TV application with possibility of portals and just below there is the PHOENIX MARKET, for the installation of many additional applications.
Note that the pre-installed applications are not only those that appear on the home screen, as with the blue button on the remote control, the following also appear: NeoX 2 (password entry), Premium – OTT (with login), Chrome, KDTV (special edition Kodi 18.6), Update and Droid Settings. The operation of applications that did not require a password - and therefore we could try - is seamless, such as Youtube, Kodi, MX Player, but also Netflix, as we will see below.
At Phoenix Market, you'll find 61 apps, including those already installed. Additional applications that you can install include Prime Video, Disney +, Aptoide TV, Audio Optimizer, Plex, VLC, Spotify and many more.
Netflix can not work in HD, due to the security level 3 that the box has, however the pre-installed version - as we found out from the tests - displays the information in Greek (if you have selected it in your account), with extremely comfortable and reliable remote control navigation, as on Android TV. In any case, mouse activation from the keyboard is available.
File playback

File playback - as in Android - is highly satisfactory, as the "weapon" called Kodi handles it in the best way, especially in all kinds of videos with subtitles. In addition, MX Player also does a good job of playing video with Greek subtitles.
Regarding Youtube, there was a pre-installed version 2.02.08, with excellent results in navigation with the remote control, without the need for mouse activation.
In the package you will find - in addition to the G-200 Pro - an IR remote control, HDMI cable, two AAA batteries, external power supply, instructions for use and an external IR sensor, so you can hide the tv box in a piece of furniture or behind the TV.
The very recent Golden Interstar G-200 Pro is a fast and reliable OTT media streamer, with Android version 9.0, equipped with applications for portals and streaming services, reliable Netflix (SD) navigation, as well as capable memory / processor. In addition to the Play store, the G-200 Pro has a built-in market for a number of additional applications, so overall it gains significant points in its evaluation.
