TELE System TS6800: Digital Terrestrial Receiver DVB-T2/HEVC

The Italia Tele System, presented a very remarkable digital terrestrial receiver DVB–T2/HEVC, which we tested it and right below you will find our impressions!

The TS6800 T2HEVC is FullHD 1080p, compatible with Τ2 system and also with the well know compression HEVC, which is not currently used in the broadcast digital channels in Greece but is very useful in playing files from the internet. The receiver is characterized for it's quality, excellelt Greek in the menu and in the electronic program guide, while it contains a universal remote control 2 in 1, which works for the decoder and also for your TV.

External description - Connections

The dimensions of the receiver are 220x124x40 mm, while in the atractive front panel we have a 4-digit display, USB port and the Stand by & change channels keys. In terms of connections on the back, we have HDMI, coaxial digital audio output SPDIF,  TV SCART (video: RGB/CVBS, audio: L+R), ANT IN, ANT OUT, the input for the supplied external power supply and general power switch.

Menu - Operation

Of coure the receiver supports PVR function and Media player. By connecting the device in an external hard discvia USB port in the front panel, you may record your favorite movies and programs, thanks to the REC & PLAY function in which you can easily manage the recording. in addition, the TS6800 is an excellent media player for pictures, music and video, whch you can watch directly in your TV with excellent quality offerd by the newer H.265decoding. With the «Logical Channel Number» your channel list will be sorted automatically and logically, while the Electronic Program Guide provides offers an updated guide for your favorite programs.

The main menu options are: Program, Picture, Channel Search, Time, Choice, System and USB. In Channel Search, you will instantly find all the channels broadcast on your area, while we need to clarify that the receiver is clearly backward compatible with the existing DVB-T system. in addition, with manual search, you select specific channels based on channel number and / or frequency and even with level and quality bars for direct control.

In the setting "Select," you set the language for OSD menu, subtitles and sound, while selecting digital audio PCM or Raw HDMI. There are also display settings of all types 16: 9 & 4: 3, resolution up to 1080p, TV form and video output between RGB & CVBS.

In the first Program selection, you can edit the channel list with functions such as Move, Skip, Lock, Delete, Favorite and Rename, while the electronic program guide will impress you with the variety of colours, the information and the ability of booking a program for viewing and recordings.

Please note that you have the option to set auto-off for up to 12 hours or to disable this feature in the Time menu.

Media Player

During receiver's testing, the recording function and media player were remarkable, as we have played many files hevc, mp4, avi etc, while the reproduction of Greek subtitles was impeccable and even adjustable in size (normal/big/small), colour (white/black/red/blue/green) and subtitle background (Transparent/gray/yellow/white). In the USB menu you will find the basic Multimedia options, Photo Adjustment, Movie Setup and PVR Settings. Under Movie Setup you will find the subtitle options which we mentioned above, while in the first Multimedia option, you select the kind of files to play between Music, Photos, Movie, and PVR.
Keep in mind that when recording on a storage device, there is a permanent mark in the form of a red plug, which is especially useful to keep the user from forgetting.
Regarding the recordings, the latter are stored in a HBPVR folder in .mts file format and can be easily played on the computer with programs such as VLC.G.

Our opinion

The TELE System TS6800 terrestrial digital receiver is in principle effective, it has the latest DVB-T2/HEVC technology offering universal coverage for the future, it is an excellent media player, while it excels in Greek in the menus and in the electronic program guide information!
