External Antenna Jolly line 44026 - Venus LTE

We tried a very interesting, small and flexible external antenna from Italy and specifically the Jolly line 44026 - Venus LTE, which provides strong terrestrial digital reception, while it is placed both on tissue and on a wall!

This antenna has a small size (as internal) 25 cm long and 12 cm wide, receives VHF bands 174-230 MHz / UHF 470-790 MHz, has an LTE filter and is active, with the ability to power via its coaxial cable, so with the supplied power supply, as well as from the 5 V of the terrestrial digital receivers. The antenna can be supported on both tissue and wall, as in the package you will find 2 tissue calipers, as well as the corresponding screws of the supplied wall holes.

The design of the base includes 2 components, which can be attached to the antenna in many ways, resulting in the possibility of horizontal, vertical, lateral, front placement and rotation. Additionally, in the package you will find a 6 meter ready coaxial black cable, which includes a waterproof protector for the antenna F connector, as well as an F male adapter on a female TV.

Note that the Jolly line 44026 - Venus LTE has a gain of 15 dB, while the LTE filter protects the reception from 790 MHz and above and specifically reduces any interference in the band 790-862 MHz by 20dB.

Also, the antenna has a compact and elegant design, while it should be noted that despite the fact that the antenna is intended for outdoor installation, you can - under certain conditions - use it indoors, depending on the shooting conditions.

Installation - Setup

The antenna receives a signal only when it is powered. For home use, we recommend using the supplied 6V power supply in combination with the DC inserter which you will also find on the package. The DC inserter is inserted into the coaxial antenna cable between the TV and the antenna, while it receives the power supply which allows only the antenna and not the receiver.

In other cases, you can enable antenna power supply from the terrestrial digital receiver menu, but in this case you will not be using the power supply or the DC inserter. The performance of the antenna in both ways of power supply remains exactly the same.

Jolly line 44026 - Venus LTE - as mentioned - can be mounted on both tissue and wall, while in terms of UHF, the optimal orientation is in a horizontal position with the surface perpendicular to the emission center (see photo) , where performance improves significantly. We do not have further information on the design of the antenna, however another point of attention is the mounting height, which should be the highest possible, as is always the case in terrestrial digital reception.

Tests - Measurements

We installed the antenna in a horizontal position on a rooftop mast, with its surface perpendicular to the emission center. We performed measurements on all available channels in our area and found that the antenna in many cases showed strong performance with MER exceeding the 34 dB that the instrument could show, while the lowest MER was presented in the weak 28 channel with the foreign channels, which we had 82 dBμV and MER 27 dB. At ERT on channel 21 we achieved a maximum MER of 30 dB with a level of 82.5 dBμV. In all other channels, we had high levels above 80 dBμV and MER above 34 dB that the instrument could show.

Then we tested the antenna on a balcony facing the broadcast center, with also excellent results, which means that in a similar case, there is no need to install the antenna on the roof.

We completed the tests using the antenna indoors, with different orientations and the impressions were excellent, keeping the proportions. In the test area, the best shot was achieved with the orientation of the antenna towards the window, which it faces at Hymettus.

Our opinion

Jolly line 44026 - Venus LTE antenna is a highly flexible and petite outdoor antenna, with powerful reception, elegant design, small size, ability to be mounted on a web or wall (eg balcony) and built-in LTE filter.
